Gene grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He earned an AA degree in Advertising illustration and Design from the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver. He worked as a commercial artist in Denver and Colorado Springs before moving to Southern California to specialize in illustration and cartooning where he worked (and work is a bad word) he enjoyed every art assignment very much. And he illustrated and Cartooned around Southern California for approximately 30 years.
He and his wife moved to Prescott, Arizona in November 2001 and continued to work at
illustration and cartooning for a while, but it became more difficult to keep his clients by not
being in their immediate area.
He started moving to the fine art field. THey were in a small country church in Chino Valley,
Arizona. There are some real cowboys, ranchers, and farmers attending that church, Talking with
and being around them awakened a long held desire to paint and draw western art.
Having just had three sucessful showings at the Phippen Museum Western Art Show at the Prescott
Courthouse Square Memorial Day Weekend, This was his first exposure in the world of fine
art. He feels very honored to have been among some of the finest western artists in the country.
We are not sure what the next step will be but were ready.
